Before a shopper gets specific, they usually just say what they want. Earrings top the list in Jewellery, tops top Clothing, and hats and caps top Bags & Accessories. Footwear is the odd one out: slippers beat trainers, and dresses barely show up in Clothing at all. The report ranks every product type by how often it's searched, so you can see where the real demand is, not just where you assume it is.
Once a shopper names what they want, they often add one more detail: a metal, a colour, a fit, an occasion. That extra word is doing your filtering for you. Someone searching "sterling silver bracelet" or "9ct gold necklace" isn't just browsing. They already know what they want to buy. These same patterns show up in every category, not just one. Together, they explain most of the searches that never mention a product type at all.
Some shoppers don't describe what they're looking for at all. They already know the brand. In fact, the two most-searched terms in the whole study aren't product types. They're two luxury brand names. There's something else going on underneath that. Shoppers also search for a store's own collection names, like "Cleo" or "Damson", expecting the search bar to already know what they mean.
